Root Canal Treatment

Save the tooth,
end the pain.

Nervous about a root canal? There’s no need to worry. With a gentle approach and modern techniques, we save your natural tooth, clear the infection, and relieve the pain — comfortably, in a calm setting. Treatment is performed by Dr. Bradley, a UCLA-trained dentist.

What is a root canal?

Treatment that rescues a damaged tooth.

A root canal is a procedure that saves a tooth damaged by deep decay, infection, or injury — so you keep your natural tooth instead of having it pulled. We carefully remove the infected pulp (the soft tissue inside the tooth), then clean, fill, and seal the canal to prevent future infection. In most cases a custom crown is added to restore the tooth’s strength. The result: pain relieved, oral health protected, and your natural smile kept for years.

Why it helps

What a root canal does for you.

Pain relief

Removing the infected or inflamed pulp eliminates the source of the ache and pressure.

Tooth preservation

You keep your natural tooth, avoiding an extraction and a more involved replacement.

Healthier mouth

Treating the infection helps stop bacteria from spreading to nearby teeth and gums, and restores comfortable chewing.

When you may need one

Signs a tooth may need a root canal.

Persistent tooth pain

Ongoing pain, especially when chewing or applying pressure, can point to deep decay or infection.

Lingering hot or cold sensitivity

Sensitivity that stays long after a hot or cold food is gone may signal nerve damage.

Swollen or tender gums

Swelling and tenderness around one tooth suggest an infection that can spread if untreated.

A pimple on the gum

A recurring pimple-like bump on the gums can be a sign of an abscess and a deeper infection.

Tooth discoloration

A darkened or discolored tooth can indicate damage inside the tooth.

A cracked or chipped tooth

A crack or chip can expose the inner tooth, leaving it open to infection and decay.

What to expect

From toothache to relief.

01

Exam & imaging

We use detailed imaging to assess the infection and build a treatment plan made for your tooth.

02

Numbing for comfort

We fully numb the area with local anesthetic so the visit is comfortable from start to finish.

03

Clean & seal

The infected pulp is gently removed, the canals are cleaned and shaped, then filled and sealed against reinfection.

04

Protect with a crown

A custom crown is often placed to restore the tooth’s strength, function, and natural look for the long term.

Common questions

Root canal questions, answered.

Does a root canal hurt?

Modern techniques have made root canals far more comfortable than their reputation suggests. We numb the area first, so most patients feel little more than they would during a routine filling — and the treatment relieves the pain from an infected tooth rather than causing it. Any mild tenderness afterward usually fades within a few days.

What should I expect afterward?

Recovery is usually quick. It’s normal to feel some mild soreness for a day or two, which over-the-counter pain relievers handle well. Avoid chewing directly on the treated tooth until your permanent crown is placed. Most patients get back to their normal routine right away, and we share simple aftercare tips to support healing.

How many visits does a root canal take?

Many root canals are completed in a single visit, while some — especially molars or teeth with a stubborn infection — are done over two. Afterward you’ll usually return to have a permanent crown placed, which protects the tooth for the long term. We’ll map out your exact schedule after the exam.

What happens if I delay a root canal?

An infected tooth doesn’t heal on its own — it tends to worsen, spreading deeper into the tooth and into the surrounding bone and tissue. That can lead to a painful abscess, a higher risk of losing the tooth, and more extensive treatment later. Treating it promptly gives you the best chance of saving your natural tooth.

How much does a root canal cost?

It depends on which tooth is involved and whether it needs a crown afterward — a front tooth is simpler than a molar with several canals. We keep it clear and within reach: most major dental plans help cover root canal treatment when it’s medically necessary, and we offer monthly payment plans. We’ll verify your benefits and go over your exact number at your appointment — no surprises.
